Medication Safety at Home
Taking prescriptions correctly at home helps prevent missed doses, harmful interactions, and accidental double dosing. Easy Care Pharmacy created this guide for patients and caregivers across our Illinois locations. Use these steps alongside advice from your pharmacist and prescriber.

Seven Steps for Safer Medication Use
Follow this checklist to keep your routine organized:
1) Keep an updated list of every prescription, over-the-counter product, vitamin, and supplement you take. Bring the list to each pharmacy visit.
2) Store medications in a cool, dry place unless the label says refrigeration is required. Keep products out of reach of children and pets.
3) Take doses at the same time each day when possible. Programs such as medication synchronization and automatic refills can align pickup dates for maintenance medications.
4) Use one pharmacy for ongoing prescriptions when you can. That helps pharmacists spot interactions before a new drug is dispensed.
5) Check expiration dates during monthly reviews. Dispose of outdated items through a local take-back program when available.
6) Read the patient information sheet for new prescriptions. Note side effects to watch for and what to do if a dose is missed.
7) Call your pharmacist before stopping, splitting, or combining tablets unless your prescriber directed you to do so.
When Organized Packaging Helps
If you manage several daily medications, EasyCare Packs group doses by time of day in clearly labeled pouches. Many families also schedule a medication therapy management review with our pharmacists to resolve duplications or timing conflicts.
